Managing Difficult Workers

Dealing with difficult workers can be … difficult
管理難搞員工   - 應付難搞員工可能會很……難搞

Uncle Bob: You need to figure out how to make this a win-win situation.
Ben: How do I do that?
Uncle Bob: Well, problem employees often behave the way they want, because their behavior has helped them get what they want in the past.
Ben: There's definitely a kernel of truth in that.
Uncle Bob: So making this a win-win situation will depend on making sure that bad behavior is no longer an effective way for Ralph to get what he wants.
Ben: I already have rules, It's just that he won't abide by them.
Uncle Bob: Then you need to have clearly defined consequences for rule breaking and use them.
Ben: Ok, so I need a plan.
Uncle Bob: That's a start, but don't just sit around lamenting the situation and planning a response.  Once the rules and consequences have been communicated, the main things is to confront problems head-on.
Ben: And if problems continue?
Uncle Bob: Make sure that consequences match the magnitude of the problem.
Ben: And ultimately I need to act in the best interest of my business.
Uncle Bob: Right. And a time may come when it's no longer worth tolerating the problem.  Then you'll  have to let him go.
Ben: Thanks for the advice.
Uncle Bob: Well, I hope things work out.
